Reinvent RSS Featured Image
WordPress RSS Featured Image
Add featured images to your RSS feed, so Mailchimp, MailerLite, Feedly and other feed readers show a picture with every post. Free, no setup.
A free plugin, coming soon to WordPress.org.

Why RSS Featured Image
WordPress leaves images out of your RSS feed. Newsletters built from your feed (Mailchimp, MailerLite, Brevo, ActiveCampaign…), feed readers like Feedly and automations like Zapier then show your posts without a picture.
Reinvent RSS Featured Image adds each post's featured image to the feed. Activate it and you're done.
Every service finds the image
The image is added three ways, because services read different parts of the feed:
- A
media:contenttag (Feedly, Zapier, Mailchimp's*|RSSITEM:IMAGE|*and most feed readers) - An image
enclosure(services that only read enclosures). Posts that already have one, like podcast episodes, keep theirs. - The image at the top of the post summary and content, with inline styles so it looks right in email
No featured image? No problem
The first image in the post is used instead.
Free, including what others charge for
media and enclosure tags, and using the first image from the post.
See it in action

01
Every post in your feed now has its picture, so feed readers show an image with each item.

02
Newsletter emails built from your feed show the picture at the top of each post.

03
The image is added as media:content, as an enclosure and at the top of the summary, so every service finds it.

Everything it does
Safe
Password-protected posts never show their image.
Posts without images are left as they are.
If another plugin also adds the media tags' namespace, it's declared only once, so your feed stays valid.
Developers can change the image size (default large) with the rwprf_image_size filter.
Questions and answers
